Walking with Freedom

Walking with Freedom

Posture improvement, pain management and greater movement! — Cue THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE!

A lot of chronic pain is caused by poor postural and movement habits. This is the pain that you feel.

Unless they are addressed, these habits create long term patterns of surplus tension in the body which can lead to acute, debilitating pain.

It’s like continuously bashing your head against a brick wall! No matter how many times you apply the ice-pack, the pain will win in the end because you keep doing it!

WALKING

‘It feels like I’m walking on air!’

‘My body feels so light and free’.

‘I feel so much more confident when I walk into a room’.

The above are typical responses from Alexander pupils who after only a few lessons, have experienced life changing sensations in their minds and bodies which lead not only to better physical health but also, enhanced mental well being as well.

Have you ever considered that your every day movement habits, including walking, may be causing you problems?

Walking is a good example. Have you ever noticed the different ways that people walk? Sometimes, you can identify a person through their gait. Quite often this is characterised by unnecessary holding of tension especially in the upper body which then perpetuates the pain cycle that they experience.

Learning the Alexander Technique can radically change these patterns. Learn to make the best out of your beautiful ability to walk. Learn to walk with elegance and power whilst still retaining your individuality. Rather than holding surplus tension, you’ll have a method of letting it go. Remember that one day, through age, you’ll lose the ability to walk. Walking is such a gift and through just a bit of common sense learning, about your anatomy and the relationship of your skeleton to gravity, your whole walking experience can not only be more pleasurable but more efficient as well.

Alexander lessons are a real lifetime investment. What you learn now will serve you well into middle and old age. As we age, there can be a tendency to feel more unstable which of course can lead to accidents such as falling over. By investing some time in lessons now, you can learn some valuable information which, when you start applying to your life and habituating it, can make a huge difference to the quality of life that you lead. Act now and contact me to book a consultation to find the better you that you always suspected was there.
